The View from the Top

Strategic management is about running the entire organization. It’s the view from the top. While some Bethel MBA students are entrepreneurs and already understand the complexity of strategy, this represents a change of perspective for many others. They typically bring a diversity of technical skills and middle-management experience into the course, but haven’t yet faced the challenges associated with directing an enterprise. My job is to shift their focus from what’s best for their departments to what’s best for the organization. Continue reading

Congratulations to Our Newest Bethel Graduates!

Bethel University held graduation ceremonies Saturday, May 10, 2014 on the school’s McKenzie campus, in the Rosemary and Harry Crisp II Arena. Seven hundred two students were Spring 2014 graduates while 504 students were graduates from the December 2013 ceremonies that were cancelled due to inclement weather. Three ceremonies were held throughout the day to accommodate the large number of graduates. The following degrees were awarded: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science and Master of Business Administration. Dr. Mirabella: “BE well-rounded and think for yourself.”

As the lead professor of Statistics in Bethel University’s MBA program, I have done my best to teach students that my course is not about crunching numbers or learning complex formulas, but rather it is about thinking.  Statistics is at the core of what an MBA graduate should be able to do successfully.  As with any subject,  you will forget a lot of technical material, but our hope is that you remember the major concepts, that you can use your knowledge to think and make wise decisions, and that you appreciate the value of each subject in business and in life.  Continue reading

Recruiter – Memphis

Bethel University has an immediate opening for a Recruiter position for the Memphis TN area. This position will be located at the Memphis campus.

The Recruiter will recruit students for the undergraduate degree program in Organizational Leadership (delivered online) or Organizational Management on campus. This position will attend, organize, and execute various recruitment events, including education / career fairs, open houses, information sessions, corporate development activities and relationship marketing. The recruiter will manage partnership follow-up and maintain record of events and prospect conversions in order to increase student enrollment for the University. The recruiter in this position will facilitate and develop internal and external partnerships as well as create and implement new recruitment strategies to assist in the continued growth of the university. Evening, weekend hours and some overnight travel is required. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of two years of customer service, sales, recruitment, higher education and project management or related experience in a fast past work environment preferred; candidate must possess excellent communication, organizational, presentation and relationship-building skills; must have the ability to work independently, as well as, with other colleagues, and possess the aptitude for detail-oriented tasks and time management.

The Advisor is responsible for communicating with students by defining and implementing a plan that assist students to stay on track to fulfill their undergraduate educational goals; resolve student concerns in order to ensure the overall educational experience is effective and efficient; create an environment that is professional, student-centered and efficient while meeting the objectives, mission and goals of the university. The scope of the position requires occasional weekend and evening work particularly during scheduled orientation periods.
